The government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, signed this Friday the transfer of five unaccompanied foreign minors for relocation and reception in other autonomous communities, in application of the provisions of the recently modified article 35 of Organic Law 4/2000, of January 11, on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration.
These are five minors who arrived in the Islands after the declaration of the situation of extraordinary migratory contingency in the Archipelago.
In accordance with Royal Decree 658/2025, of 22 July, which regulates the measures to be adopted in situations of extraordinary migratory contingency for the protection of the best interests of unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents, it is now the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands that is responsible for the transfer of these minors from the Islands to their autonomous community of destination, which must take place within a maximum period of five calendar days from the notification of the location and transfer resolution.
