The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today pointed out the “qualitative leap” in the communication of the metropolitan area of A Coruña that represents the opening to the circulation of the 400 underground meters of the “Sol y Mar” link, in the AC-12 as it passes through Perillo (Oleiros). Pedro Blanco saw this morning accompanied by the president of the Transport Committee of the Congress of Deputies, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, and the mayor of Oleiros, Ángel García Seoane, the first hours of circulation through this lower pass, one of the commitments of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the improvement of the road circulation of A Coruña.
The delegate pointed out that this partial commissioning will directly benefit the 50,000 drivers who circulate daily at this point. He also confirmed that, once this point is opened, the work will continue through urbanization and aesthetic integration of the upper level, to end in the first half of next year.
“This is a key work to guarantee the permeability of this area and will undoubtedly improve the quality of life of the neighborhood and the activity of the numerous companies and businesses that are located next to the old N6, current AC-12,” he said. In addition, this progress makes it possible for the Government to deal more calmly with the rest of investments in road infrastructure in A Coruña, such as the remodeling of the Avenida de Alfonso Molina and the expansion of the A Pasaxe bridge: “We talk about three great works that add up to 72 million euros and that this Government, this Ministry of Transport, was the one who took them out of the drawer and put on the table so that they can already put themselves at the service of the citizens.”
The delegate recalled that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility invests 10.5 million euros in the work of Sol y Mar and that the majority of local and regional companies, led by the Galician Civis Global S.L., participate in its construction. Extraco S.A. and Mixtures S.A., which make up the adjudicator UTE. She also recognized the collaboration of the neighborhood and the companies and businesses that are located and live next to the work, which had to live with her in the months of work.
Of his execution, the delegate stressed that it was “an example of good work in public works”, since it was agreed with the other administrations, with total transparency with the directly affected neighbors and with the citizens, without resorting at any time to cut the road and guaranteeing mobility in the area. During this period, the collaboration of the City of Oleiros stands out, as well as that of the General Directorate of Traffic, the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard and that of all the municipalities of the metropolitan area (A Coruña, Cambre and Culleredo), in terms of the empowerment of the diversions of works and alternative itineraries.
Features of the work
The new link, of diamond type and with upper roundabout, replaces the old intersection of “Sol y Mar” located in the vicinity of the kilometric point 5,200 of the road AC-12 in Perillo (Oleiros), one of the main accesses to the city of A Coruña.
The performance took place over 0.6 km. At this point, the central part of the AC-12 runs from today underground between walls screen of drying piles, which will allow to house on the upper level of the link a surface gazebo that will resolve the movements between the Avenue of As Mariñas and the AC-174 (Rúa Areal).
The AC-12’s underground section features 2-lane roadways for each direction of travel, separated by a rigid vehicle containment system. On both sides of the new AC-12 road grade are the link branches, which in turn act as service routes to give access to the adjoining properties.
The project also includes the replacement of all affected urban services, as well as the execution of various actions of aesthetic and landscape integration of the environment of the upper level of the intersection, improving pedestrian permeability in the road environment and significantly reducing the environmental impact of the infrastructure.
