As in 2021, 2022 and 2023, in this last call of 2024, the distribution of funds to EELL has been articulated through a royal decree of direct grant concession for the municipalities of Barcelona and Madrid that aims at the digital transformation and modernization of their administrations, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). In this sense, the call, for a total amount of 5,740,384.19, has been addressed to the municipalities of Barcelona and Madrid, due, especially, to the singular and extraordinary character of both cities due to their status as more populated cities in Spain and economic and tourist engines of the State; for being erected as the only municipalities throughout the national territory with special regulatory laws that come to recognize their institutional uniqueness; and, especially, for their status as drivers of growth and digital transformation for the entire national territory and for their permeability in absorbing economic resources and transforming them into innovative projects and digital transformation, key to better local administration.
