The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has praised the commitment of the Executive chaired by Pedro Sánchez with the coverage of the train tracks in Maliaño, in Camargo and, to this end, has taken "one more step" for the execution of this "important project" for the municipality and the autonomous community.
This is how the Cantabrian delegate referred to the approval on Tuesday in the Council of Ministers of the authorization to sign the agreement between Adif, the Government of Cantabria and the City of Camargo to execute that coverage of the railway tracks.
Casares has highlighted this “new step” towards the execution of the project “most demanded” by the neighbors of Camargo “for many years”. “The government is absolutely committed to this fundamental action to improve the lives of the Camargueses,” he added.
“We have been talking about this project for decades to cover the roads between Maliaño and Muriedas but only with this government presided over by Pedro Sánchez have definitive steps been taken to materialize it, a further sign of the firm commitment to our land and compliance with all investments and projects of Cantabria, which is part of the country’s agenda for the first time in democracy,” he said.
The representative of the State in Cantabria has detailed that the agreement now authorized by the Council of Ministers aims to develop the drafting of the project and the execution of the covering works in a stretch of 275 mers of the Iberian wide line Torrelavegas-Santander in Camargo, as well as its financing.
At this point, he pointed out that this is a project that will involve an investment of 14 million euros (VAT not included), of which 12.5 million will correspond to the works and 1.5 million to the drafting of the construction project.
He recalled that Adif will pay 50% of the total cost of the actions and the cost of drafting the construction project, while the regional government will assume 30% of the actions and the Consistory another 20%.
The project envisages the implementation of a double-track covering structure on a section of the Torrelavegas-Santander line, with a length of approximately 275 m, between kilometre point 508/109 and p.k. 508/383, as well as a series of works associated with that execution.
In addition, actions such as the demolition of various elements include the current building and platform of the old Camargo apeadero, as well as the execution of a new covering structure for two sections of the streets Julio de Pablo and Francisco Rivas, the execution of the necessary fillings to connect both margins of the road with the generated roofs and fillings of the new created space, compatible with the urban planning.
Also included are works such as the adaptation of the section inside the railway drawer for the current tracks and the two tracks of the future track duplication, adaptation of the existing electrification by projecting a new one, modification of signalling system and tube pipelines for the passage of safety installations and railway communications, installation of evacuation signals, maintenance sidewalks, longitudinal drainage elements with ditches, tubes and drains to give continuity to the existing drainage.
