Origin of the project
This project was created with the aim of centralizing and facilitating access to the records of the victims of the Franco repression, contributing to the recovery and preservation of historical memory. The information it houses comes from a wide variety of sources, both official and memorialist associations and independent research work. Its purpose is to offer an accessible tool that allows family members, researchers and the general public to quickly and easily consult the data of the victims of the Spanish War and subsequent repression, which are dispersed in different files and databases. As of February 4, 2025, the project has a total of 6,272,351 indexed records. These records come from extensive collaboration between different groups, associations, and the research community. Thanks to this joint effort, the project continues to grow and update, ensuring that new data of relevance to the victims of repression continue to be incorporated. The ultimate goal of the project is to complement existing initiatives and provide a single resource, facilitating access to this information centrally. Thus, it contributes to the knowledge and repair of the historical memory, recovering the legacy of the people who suffered the violence of the Franco regime.
