The Director General of Management and Educational Planning, Susana Tejadillos, and the Assistant Director General of Centers and Programs, Librada García, visited the city of Melilla to hold various working meetings with the educational community, accompanied by the Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, and the team of the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD).
On Monday afternoon, representatives of the Ministry met with the Mothers and Fathers Associations (AMPAs) of several educational centers, where they heard first-hand their main demands. This meeting announced the next call for a support program for innovative and inclusive good practice projects, encouraging families to participate together with the educational community in the elaboration of these proposals.
In addition, the launch of the dining room of the CEIP Encarna León, a resource widely demanded by families, was valued. As a novelty, this course will also be accessible to non-scholarship students, which will favor family reconciliation.
Previously, the Director and the Assistant Director General held a meeting with the team of the Provincial Directorate to address the beginning of the course and then met with the educational inspection team, where it was presented to the new inspectors.
During the day today, Tuesday, the ministerial leaders meet with the management teams of the educational centers for children, primary, secondary, special education (School of Languages, School of Art and Conservatory), as well as with the agreed centers, with the aim of sharing the main novelties of the 2025-2026 academic year and maintaining a direct contact with the educational community.
Commitment to public education
The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, stressed that “the Government of Spain is fully committed to strengthening public and quality education, guaranteeing the necessary resources so that every child has access to the same opportunities, regardless of their situation”.
For her part, the Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño highlighted the effort of the team in Melilla, “from the Provincial Directorate we work every day in close collaboration with schools and families to respond to their needs and implement projects that improve the quality of teaching.”
News for the 2025-2026 academic year
In their speeches, Tejadillos and García stressed the importance of maintaining direct and regular contact with the educational community of Melilla. “It is important for us to continue promoting direct contact through regular visits, cultivating a close link with the educational community,” they said.
They have also unleashed the implementation of measures relevant to this course. Among them is the Emergency Training Plan in non-university schools, which will begin in the first quarter with the training of trainers and will continue in the second quarter in coordination with Civil Protection, becoming a recurring program each course to promote a preventive culture against natural risks.
They have also highlighted the implementation in Melilla of new Territorial Cooperation Programs (PCT) to strengthen mathematical competence and improve reading, which will involve an investment of more than 2.1 million euros, the incorporation of almost 30 additional teachers and the provision of financial resources for centers to develop specific actions in their improvement plans, accompanied by specialized training for teachers.
In addition, a call for grants will be launched for innovative and inclusive good practice projects, with a global investment of 228,000 euros and a maximum of 8,000 euros per centre.
The educational offer of Melilla will also be enriched with programs of socioemotional support in children, an innovative project of virtual reality in the Special Education Centers, the implementation of cinema as a pedagogical resource and the continuity of the platform to promote reading.
The ministerial leaders stressed that the educational centers will be able to request these programs through the Provincial Directorate, which will soon send all the information about their development and participation requirements.
