The Ministry of Equality, the autonomous communities, and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, have agreed on Monday, at the Sectoral Conference on Equality, the distribution of 179.8 million euros destined to the fight against gender violence and within the framework of the State Pact against gender violence.
Minister Ana Redondo, who chaired the Sectoral Conference on Equality, stressed the importance of incorporating more resources, “in total 20 million more” and called for unity “in the coordinated struggle of all administrations to eradicate once and for all male violence.”
The distribution is made after the authorization of the Council of Ministers and meets the distribution criteria established by the Sectoral Commission, the highest co-governance body between the Ministry of Equality and the autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla.
Of the total amount, 160 million euros are intended for the development of the State Pact against Gender Violence. They will therefore aim to finance programmes to combat gender violence and other forms of male violence included in the measures of the Pact, which must be promoted by the autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla, within the scope of their competences in 2025.
Through this finalist fund, the Government guarantees its economic commitment to ensure the stability and permanence of public policies and services derived from the State Pact against Gender Violence, consolidating work against violence against women throughout the State.
In short, it is a question of coordinating a comprehensive, effective and coordinated response from all institutions with competence in the field of preventing and combating violence against women; maintaining and improving, throughout the territory of the State, the network of resources, services and benefits aimed at the protection, assistance, support, recovery and reparation of victims of violence against women; and promoting actions to raise awareness and prevent violence against women or strengthening the training of all professionals working with victims, in order to guarantee the best institutional response.
Autonomous programs
Finally, the remaining 19.8 million will be invested in different regional programs and plans aimed at victims of gender violence and sexual violence. Specifically, this amount, included in the budget of expenses of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, will finance the development of four programs for its development throughout 2025.
On the one hand, 8.5 million euros correspond to programmes to implement the right to comprehensive social assistance for women victims of gender-based violence and their minor sons and daughters. Another million will be allocated to programs for the implementation of the common proposal to improve the coordination and implementation of personalized plans for the care of victims of gender violence. Another 9.5 million euros are intended to fund programmes to support victims of sexual assault. And finally, the remaining 800,000 euros correspond to programs for the prevention of sexual exploitation of minors under guardianship.
