The State Administration incorporates 551 administrative offices in Catalonia to strengthen essential public services

· The government delegate, Carlos Prieto, highlights that the reinforcement "will improve the attention to the public and will make the administration more agile, effective and close".

· Throughout Spain, more than 5,400 administrative three are incorporated to overcome the selective process. The appointment of these career officials has been published on Wednesday in the BOE and they will now have a month to join their job.

· The incorporation of new staff will be concentrated mainly in citizens ' offices such as the National Social Security Institute (INSS), the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), Civil Protection and foreigners ' offices.

Barcelona, October 15, 2025.- The General Administration of the State will incorporate 5,400 administrative staff, 551 of them in Catalonia. As published this Wednesday in the Official State Gazette, all these people will have one month to take office and join their job. This is covered by the resolution of the Secretary of State for Public Service, published today in the BOE, which appoints career civil servants to those who have passed the selective process for their entry into the General Administrative Body of the State Administration, through the system of free entry.

For the government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, “the incorporation of more than half a thousand new administrators in Catalonia is excellent news for the strengthening of essential public services and for moving towards a more agile, effective Administration that is closer to the citizens.”

In this regard, Prieto has highlighted that “This reinforcement will be especially noticeable in the offices that manage the daily procedures of thousands of people every day”. He also recalled that “this Government maintains its commitment to strengthen public services throughout the territory, especially in those communities with greater personnel needs”, and for this reason, the reinforcement of personnel in Catalonia will allow “An improvement in the attention of the citizens”.

Specifically, the 551 administrative positions in Catalonia are distributed as follows: 373 will be incorporated in the province of Barcelona, 77 in the province of Girona, 59 in the province of Tarragona and 42 in the province of Lleida.

It should be noted that this process covers practically 100% of the places offered, appointing a total of 5,428 people, of which 360 have participated for the reservation time for people with disabilities.

From a functional point of view, the incorporation of these personnel is essential for the provision of essential public services, strengthening the offices for the care of citizens. Among these departments and management centres are the 774 personnel for the management of immigration files in the Government Delegations and Sub-Delegations of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory; the 950 that will be incorporated by the INSS for the processing of the Minimum Vital Income or the 470 that will be admitted to the SEPE.

The offer has also placed special emphasis on deficit autonomous communities such as Catalonia, among others. This territorialized distribution responds to the fact that the most critical needs for the incorporation of administrative personnel are located in units of the periphery, and of direct provision to the citizens, such as the Government Delegations and Subdelegations, the SEPE, the entities managing the Social Security or the General Directorate of Traffic.

The commitment to strengthen the attention to citizenship provided by the State Administration has once again been a commitment of the Government in the Royal Decree on the offer of public employment for 2025. The allocation of places to bodies and scales of the C1 and C2 subgroups, those closely linked to the attention to citizenship, represent 64% of the total number of places for civil servants in the AGE (13,400), six points above last year’s offer.
