The government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, has delivered the diplomas of 940 students who have completed sixth grade this year in 19 schools in the province of León and who have passed the Ciberexpert@ program.
During this event Nicanor Sen was accompanied by the Superior Chief of the National Police in Castilla y León, the Provincial Chief Commissioner of León, the Mayor of the Leonese capital and the General Director of Innovation and Teacher Training of Castilla y León.
Sen expressed his thanks to the promoters of this initiative, “my thanks today go to the members of the National Police Corps who direct and participate in programs like this that ensure the safety and protection of those who need it most.”
Nicanor Ser has very positively valued this training action that has been taught by the National Police since 2016, without forgetting the work of educational centers, teachers, parents and institutions. “Collaboration among all those involved in the education and safety of children is essential,” the delegate stressed.
The Cyberexpert@ Project consists of developing training activities for primary school students, considering that it is the initial age they start to have contact and curiosity about new technologies. Cyberbullying, grooming, sexting, technoaddictions, identity supplantation, privacy, etc. The Internet can pose risks for children if they are not well informed and in this regard teachers and the whole family environment play a vital role.
Through different training activities and the Cyberexpert@ website, the aim is to promote responsible use of the Internet, as well as to visualize the dangers and problems that can be found on the Internet and even facilitate the reporting of risk situations in which children can be found.
The training talks are given by the Citizen Participation delegates of the National Police, with the support of the Educational Community and the coordination of the Central Citizen Participation Unit. The activities can be requested by the schools through the email account: seguridadescolar@policia.es Students will receive between five and ten hours of training on the correct use of ICT and social networks.
