June 3, 2025.- The Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Health, has approved in the Council of Ministers on Tuesday to allocate 2 million euros to Castilla y León to strengthen mental health. The total investment proposed to transfer to autonomous communities and the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) is 39 million euros, aimed at strengthening mental health care.
The credits, which will be managed by the autonomous communities and the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA), will be financed from the budgets of the Ministry of Health for the financial year 2025 and must be formalized in the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (SNS).
The Action Plan establishes eight strategic lines that shape public policy in mental health for the coming years:
1.-Strengthening of human resources: It includes the incorporation of figures of mutual support of people with experience in mental health, hired in assistance devices.
2.-Community mental health and alternatives to institutionalization: Resources such as crisis houses, home care teams, interventions to support autonomous life, crisis care focused on rights and addiction prevention programs will be financed.
3.-Optimization of the treatment: Training programs and campaigns are promoted for the proper use of psychodrugs and prescription drugs when indicated, at all levels of care.
4.-Care for vulnerable groups: Accessibility for people in vulnerable situations will be improved and vocational training in gender-based violence and support for women victims will be strengthened.
5.-Perinatal mental health, childhood and adolescence: Preventive actions and specialized programs for children and the perinatal period will be promoted, as well as alternatives to child-youth hospitalization.
6.-Mental health information systems: The development of registries and autonomic information systems to improve analysis and planning will be supported.
7.-Mental health and work: Actions that promote access to decent employment and job maintenance for people with mental disorder will be funded.
8.-Human rights and the fight against stigma: The actions include mechanisms to prevent involuntary interventions and the creation of figures to support the exercise of the rights of people with psychosocial disabilities.
