- Since last August, registrars, Ministry and platforms share data through the Digital Single Window, promoted by Minister Isabel Rodríguez in order to end fraud in temporary accommodation.
- Since January 1, the registry has received a total of 336,497 applications throughout the territory, of which 78.75% correspond to tourist rentals.
- Throughout the territory, the Ministry directed by Isabel Rodríguez has notified 53,876 illegal tourist apartments to the platforms to remove their online ads
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) has notified 955 illegal tourist apartments in Cantabria to digital platforms to remove online ads from these accommodations. These are flats that have requested the mandatory registration number since July 1, but have not obtained it because they do not comply with the legal requirements.
Now, the different platforms must proceed to the removal of the ads of these properties, which can be commercialized in several of them at once.
Thanks to the impetus of Minister Isabel Rodríguez, Spain has been the first country in Europe to implement the Single Registry of Temporary Accommodations, in collaboration with the College of Registrars, to end fraud in tourist rentals.
Through the Ministry’s Digital One-Stop Shop they are collaborating to identify ads without code.
Since it began operating on January 1, the registry has received a total of 336,497 applications, of which 264,998 (78.75%) correspond to tourist rentals. Of these, 53,786 have been revoked (20.3%).
The Community of Madrid is the great anomaly within the registers because the percentage is inverted: 83% of the flats that have requested registration have done so as temporary, and only 17% as tourist. Of the 3,513 requests for registration as a tourist rental, more than a third have been revoked for not complying with the legality.
If a code is revoked, it means that the College of Registrars has received the request, that said request contained incomplete data or not in accordance with the current regulations of the type of activity that was intended to be carried out and was not corrected in a timely manner.
With the registry and the Digital Single Window, the Ministry directed by Isabel Rodríguez seeks to preserve the social function of housing and combat illegal tourist apartments, which expel families from their neighborhoods and blur the cities.
