The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, highlighted the “progressive modernization” experienced in recent years by the Seve Ballestries-Santander Airport thanks to the investments of the Government of Spain and AENA and to which will be added next year a project to improve and renovate the electricity network in the amount of 8.1 million euros.
Casares announced this Friday after visiting the facilities of the Cantabrian airfield and having a meeting with its director, Miguel Ángel Salgado.
In particular, the representative of the State in the region has advanced that in 2026 work will begin for the refurbishment of the airport’s medium-voltage network and the implementation of electric vehicle charging points, which will involve an investment of 8.1 million.
But this investment is one more than those that have been made in recent years, and that add up to more than 13 million euros since 2022.
Thus, the government delegate has detailed that actions of 1.7 million euros have been executed for the improvement of the security filter in the exits, the adaptation of the border control spaces of the National Police or the improvement of the facilities of the arrivals area.
In addition, he has highlighted that the expansion of the Seve Ballesteros public car park is currently underway, which will go from 750 places to 1,050 places thanks to the execution of a new surface for the rotation of rental vehicles. These works are scheduled to be completed in November and involve an investment of 3.2 million euros.
“These investments show the importance that our airport has for the Government of Spain and for the entire AENA network,” said the government delegate.
